Bled is a small town on the very picturesque Lake Bled in northwestern Slovenia. It is situated in beautiful valley between the Julian Alps and the Karavanks, only 50 km (or 31 miles) from the Slovenian capital city Ljubljana. Bled is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Slovenia. The main landmarks are the Bled Castle (known in Slovenian as Blejski grad) and Bled Island (Blejski otok) with the Church of the Assumption of Mary.
The old castle on a hill and the lake with an island, surrounded by majestic mountains make for exceptionally beautiful scenery. If you’re a landscape photographer, or simply appreciate picturesque scenery, you won’t regret visiting Bled. I’ve been there twice, and hope to re-visit it once more.

An extraordinarily beautiful place, isn’t it?
