Sony has just announced two new high-end E-mount products: the long awaited a9 full-frame mirrorless camera and a new super telephoto zoom lens: the FE 100-400mm F4.5–5.6 GM OSS. After the huge success of Sony’s a7 line of cameras, it seems that the a9 is the first camera in a new line. The new line is placed above the a7 range (a7 II, a7R II , a7S II), or at least will cater to a different user group. With a launch price around 4500 US dollars (or €5,300), it is approx. 1000 US dollars more expensive than the current flagships (a7S II, a7R II ) were at launch. […]
Sony announced two new lenses and a new flash today. The lenses are: the FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS (a.k.a. SEL100F28GM) and the FE 85mm F1.8 (a.k.a. SEL85F18 ). As all FE lenses, they will of course work also on E-mount cameras with APS-C sized sensors, for example the a6300 or the a6500. […]
So far, I haven’t used any Panasonic camera, but I must admit that I consider them a very innovative imaging company, especially when it comes to video. The Lumix DMC-GH4 was a truly innovative camera, bringing 4k video resolution to small form factor cameras. The GH4 was extremely popular among videographers. At a reasonable price the offered some features often found on high-end professional cameras costing thousands of dollars more. And now Panasonic announces the successor of the very successful GH4 (please forgive the pun).
Google has recently announced that its Nik Collection of plugins for Photoshop and Lightroom will be available for free. The collection includes the following plugins: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. Google acquired Nik Software several years ago and offered the plugin bundle for a much lower price than the original plugins sold by Nik. I purchased the collection then for about $140 directly from Google.
